Here is an example of using a digital SLR
at prime focus. If the sensor is not full frame the half deg. Moon or Sun
will not fit. It used to fit on 35mm film. But digital still rules. |

Earthglow on the Moon
Actually it was an accident. I was trying to guess on
the exposure for a moon picture. I was sort of way off. But It still is
sorta cool. Shot using a 100-400 telephoto on a Canon D60 (8 sec @ f5.6
ISO200) |
Mars at Perigee
This was one of the closet approaches in
years. It was a stunning thing to see. |

Comet Neat
Taken at Chicago Astronomical Society's
Spring 2004 Comet Quest. This image (one of my all time favs) was taken
using a Canon D60 using a 100-400 zoom mounted piggy back on my Dynamax.
It was a single 6 minute exposure. |
